The Princess Shop is thrilled to be putting on the 9th Annual Glass Slipper Benefit for Princesses on April 7th, 2016! The Glass Slipper benefit is such an important evening of celebrating the success of each of our Princess Graduates over the years, as well as it's our biggest fundraiser of the year! As we prepared for our big night, we sat down with our lovely and talented Glass Slipper Coordinator, Brittney Witte, to ask her what she's most looking forward to on our big night! "I’m so grateful to have the chance to coordinate an event for such a giving and unique organization. The volunteers I spend time with are all so caring, and beautiful inside and out, and it will be so rewarding to see the efforts of our time come to life for one magical evening", Witte said, "The Glass Slipper is going to be an elegant and exciting occasion sponsored by many fantastic companies. It takes the support of an entire community to put together an event like this". When asked the things she's most looking forward to, Brittney gushed about the live and silent auction with over 100 packages, catered dinner and dessert by Cakes by Kait, and entertainment by Mo’ Love. Lastly, she said she's most excited for our Keynote Speaker. Cara, a former Princess Graduate is a persevering, strong, young woman with an amazing story to tell. We can’t wait for her to share her journey with all of you!

A Warm Welcome to our New Graphic Designer- Rachael Meckling

The Princess Shop is excited to welcome our new Graphic Designer, Rachael Meckling. Rachael grew up in Saskatoon but moved to Ontario in her high school years. She attended Ryerson University for fashion communications and graphic design. What makes her unique in her work is that she is an illustrator AND a graphic designer which means she can really make designs exceptional and we are excited and grateful to have her on our team! She did an internship at Flare Magazine and had her illustration and graphic design featured in a June issue in 2010 and she even was known as Flare’s resident artiste and was featured in an August 2010 feature about Flare’s “Young Bright Things.” Below are some questions we asked Rachael:

What got you interested in Graphic Design in the first place? 

Ryerson. The introduction to Adobe InDesign changed my life. And when I realized I could make my own hand drawn letters into fonts. That was a big win.

Why do you want to work with The Princess Shop?

Because mentoring and investing in the well-being of girls is essential to their confidence and sense of self-worth. Girl Power. 

What project are you most excited about with The Princess Shop?

Drawing the new "Glass Slipper". Very excited to make the invites for the 2016 Glass Slipper Gala as well. I hope my work increases the guest list! 

What was your high school graduation like? Describe your dress.

A 1940's style dress from Toronto my aunt bought me for $100. It was made from a dusty mauve chiffon with two silk ribbons that wrapped around my waist and tied in the back. It made me feel like a woman. I'd wear it again. 

What is your favorite colour?

 Pink. I love all the corals and peaches and bubble gums and magentas. I love that oranges and blues can be made sweeter with pink.

Our Second Jewelry Fundraiser is being by the lovely Janna Dutton, a Color by Amber Consultant, and the wonderful staff at Lead Pilates. Since 2010 Lead Pilates has been helping the people of Saskatoon get motivated and take control of their body. They offer personalized workouts, specific for your needs. We are honored for Lead Pilates to be holding this wonderful fundraiser for us.
