There are so many different ways to step in and get involved...

Don't have much time to join our volunteer team as a coordinator? No problem. While we are looking for the right people to fill those important roles, we also thrive from the additional support we receive through various ways that don't require year-round commitment.

#1 Follow us on Social Media
We mean actually following the page and sharing our posts and engaging with them (liking and commenting). This keeps us relevant in the feed and raises awareness of our successes and programs. Maybe you'll be the connection between us and a new sponsor or volunteer? Who knows?

#2 Join our Helping Hands list
This is a casual volunteer opportunity and the commitment is when you choose it to be! Those on our Helping Hands list receive emails when we are seeking help. Those who can, sign up; those who cannot, continue with their day as if nothing happened. No stress! Options range from Glass Slipper event help to Dress Appointment support. Email us with your contact information if you're interested! Contact us to put your name and email on this list.

#3 Coming Forward with a Special Skill You'd Like to Contribute
Do you enjoy sewing? There are plenty of small sewing jobs on dresses that range from beginner to expert. We have sewing supplies here so you can just come on in during our office hours and repair some dresses! Other ideas are running errands for us such as picking up donations from our donation partners, or coming forward with a fundraising idea!

#4 Attend an Event (and Bring All Your Friends)
As a small nonprofit organization doing big things in our community, we really rely on support from all angles. We do our own fundraising throughout the year, and would love to have you attend one of our many amazing events throughout the year (hint: Save the Date for April 10th - Glass Slipper Benefit).

#5 Join our Core Volunteer Team
Okay - so we have to add this option in just in case! Are you ready to jump in and be a part of the decision-making and direct impact? Check out our volunteer positions currently open by clicking here. Being a part of the core team provides so much benefit such as a new perspective, practicing real interpersonal and professional skills, enhancing your creative brainstorming, and seeing your ideas come to life because we can!

We are always happy to help and answer your questions, so contact us!

Wîtaskêwin: SIGA’s Continued Support of The Princess Shop's Dress Program

posted by The Princess Shop    |   June 7, 2016 09:43

It all began in 2012, and SIGA has continued to be a Diamond Sponsor of the Dress Program for The Princess Shop in the subsequent years 2013, 2014, 2015, and again for this year’s 2016 graduation season! We are so proud to be among SIGA’s benefitting community organizations receiving funding for our program.

The Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority (SIGA) operates under one of their guiding principles, Wîtaskêwin: sharing the land and sharing resources. This lays amazing foundation for SIGA’s investment in Saskatchewan’s community.

SIGA has shared their resources with The Princess Shop for a number of years, to ensure that the Dress Program finds success in the lives of disadvantaged female youth who are graduating from high school. With last year’s 30% growth in demand for the Dress Program, SIGA’s continued support translates into stability of the program, and continued development to ensure the lives of 100s of graduates are positively impacted every year through an enhanced graduation experience, mentorship, scholarship support, and skill development.

SIGA displays a great example of what it means to share resources with our beautiful community and province, by all their work done in the community.

Our whole community benefits when young women have more self-esteem, confidence, and drive. Positively affecting young women impacts their families and dependents – and ultimately, our entire community.

A big thank you to all the staff and friends at SIGA for being a major part of the impact!

Back on Board: KPMG Dinner Sponsor of the 9th Annual Glass Slipper Benefit for Princesses

posted by The Princess Shop    |   November 24, 2015 10:25

As we are 1 week away from launching ticket sales to the 9th Annual Glass Slipper Benefit for Princesses (April 07, 2016 at TCU Place), we are

excited to highlight one of our sponsors!

KPMG has been a part of this very important event and a supporter of The Princess Shop in several ways. We are so proud to have KPMG's commitment to continue as our Dinner Sponsor of the 9th Annual Glass Slipper Benefit for Princesses! In addition, KPMG is involved with The Princess Shop through participation on the Board of Directors, and the Fairy Godmother Program. We feel so supported by this amazing organization and are so excited to celebrate with them at the 9th Annual Glass Slipper Benefit for Princesses!

Featuring a keynote presentation from a Princess Graduate, this gala is rounded off by a served dinner, dessert, live and silent auctions, and entertainment by a local group. Guests are encouraged to come right at 5:30pm to browse and bid on the auction, get a photo on the red carpet, and mingle with the other guests! The Glass Slipper Benefit for Princesses is a great way for the community to experience and share in the celebration of The Princess Shop's impact on disadvantaged women in the community as they celebrate their accomplishments and venture into the next chapter of their lives.

Our guests at the gala include individuals from all professions, including legal, accounting, academics, education, insurance, nonprofit organizations, and students. Keep an eye out for ticket sales that launch December 1, 2015, which happens to be Giving Tuesday! Tickets will be available at www.theprincessshop.ca! Join our mailing list (homepage, bottom left), to stay in the loop!
