The Princess Shop Welcomes New Volunteers for the New Year!

posted by The Princess Shop    |   December 16, 2015 15:47

Like most non-profit organizations, the heartbeat of what we do is fueled by the energy and selflessness of the volunteeers who give their time to us week after week. 2015 has been a big year for The Princess Shop, we've had many successes along the way. But like anything we've also had our challenges, and this year that meant finding the right volunteers to carry forward our mission of being one of Saskatoon's BEST non-profit organizations

Good things come to those who wait, which is why we are so excited to announce the newest Princess Shop volunteers, Morgan McEachern (Volunteer Representative), Chandra Groves (Communications Coordinator), and Kim Julicher (Fundraising Coordinator).

Meet the lovely Morgan McEachern. Morgan, originally from small-town Lanigan, Saskatchewan relocated to Saskatoon for University in 2013. Morgan is one of those people that warms up the room with her smile, and makes those around her feel welcome and comfortable, all great attributes for our Volunteer Representative position!

Morgan is as bright as she is warm, as she is currently working towards both a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology and a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from the Edwards School of Business. Outside of her studies, and volunteer work with The Princess Shop in Saskatoon, she is also employed by the University of Saskatchewan's Science Outreach Program teaching Math and Science concepts in community schools in Saskatoon. She is delighted to be contributing to The Princess Shop community so she can make a difference in the lives of young women in Saskatoon.

Chandra Groves joins The Princess Shop team in the role of Volunteer Communications Coordinator. She's followed the success of The Princess Shop as a great Saskatoon organization, and has seen the impact that it has made in the community over the years. Chandra said when the opportunity presented itself to join, she knew it was the perfect way to play a part in giving back to our community, while utilizing her strengths as a Communications professional. Chandra attained degrees in business and communications from the University of Jamestown in North Dakota in 2009 where she played on a volleyball scholarship. She has spent the last 6 years cultivating as many opportunities for professional growth as possible; from opening a business here in Saskatoon, to documenting her world travels with her own travel blog and website (www.chandragroves.com), to continuing education with a graphic design course in the summer of 2015. Chandra is a self-proclaimed hoarder of experiences. She loves to do photography, write, play music, and she loves pretty much every outdoor adventure. If she's not exploring the land of living skies, you will often find her with a backpack or a snowboard in the Rocky Mountains.

And last, but certainly not least, we are so excited to be welcoming Kim Julicher our new Fundraising Coordinator. Kim was born and raised in Saskatoon and attended post secondary studies for Food and Hospitality Management in BC. She has since returned home to Saskatoon where she is the Assistant Food and Beverage Manager at the Saskatoon Club. Kim is an extremely hard worker and she loves having the ability to work and volunteer with  groups that offer a positive social outlet for a great purpose. Kim is thrilled to be joining The Princess Shop in Saskatoon as the volunteer Fundraising Coordinator. Outside of work and volunteering, her passions include cultural exploration- both local and international, and her friends and family.

We are still looking to fill two of our Volunteer Roles for 2016. To learn more about this great organization and how you can get involved, contact us today! As always, find us on facebook, twitter, and instagram to stay up to date on the latest and greatest Princess Shop happenings.

SIGA is Back as Diamond Sponsor of the Dress Program

posted by The Princess Shop    |   June 2, 2015 09:20

The Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority (SIGA) operates under their guiding principle, Wîtaskêwin, which is all about sharing the land and sharing resources. This lays amazing foundation for their investment in Saskatchewan’s community.

SIGA has shared their resources with The Princess Shop for a number of years, to ensure that the Dress Program finds success in the lives of disadvantaged female youth who are graduating from high school.

It all began in 2012, and SIGA has continued to be a Diamond Sponsor of the Dress Program in the subsequent years 2013, 2014, and for this year’s 2015 graduation season! We are so proud to be among SIGA’s benefiting community organizations receiving funding for our program.

SIGA displays a great example of what it means to share resources with our beautiful community and province, by all their work done in the community.

Thanks to all the staff and friends at SIGA for being a part of the 2015 Dress Program!

The Second Annual Tonic Dress Fundraiser

posted by The Princess Shop    |   March 29, 2015 15:54

It’s that time of the year again! We are happy and grateful to have the locally owned clothing store – Tonic, hold their 2nd Annual Dress Fundraiser in support of The Princess Shop. From now until April 15, Tonic will be donating a portion of their Dress Sales to the Princess Shop! Now is the perfect time to complete your spring look (incase spring ever comes) and help out a local nonprofit organization at the same time.

Tonic has been a staple in the Saskatoon community for over 10 years. They began as a small vintage boutique on Broadway and has since grown to two locations in Saskatoon. It has become to what we have known and love, Tonic! They carry the latest season’s trends from Canadian designers to the top brands in Europe and United States.

For every dress purchase made until April 15, not only will you get a beautiful dress but a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Princess Shop AND you’ll also get a cute little dress card to put your name on that will be showcased somewhere in the store!

Looking for the perfect outfit to attend the upcoming 8th Annual Glass Slipper Benefit for Princesses? Check out the Anita Skirt (Available in various colors) at your closest Tonic! This fun Canadian made skirt will make you embrace your inner princess and make heads turn… possibly with envy. Whether you are wearing this for a night out with your girls or while watching Sex and in the City on a Friday night, this skirt is a must have in your closet.

When you’re at Tonic remember to show your confirmation email to our Glass Slipper event to receive 10 percent off your entire purchase! Even if you don’t find a dress to buy, you can still help out by contributing to the donation jars available at the cash register. For the duration of this event, Tonic is also accepting dress donations on behalf of the Princess Shop. So before you head over to Tonic, clear some room in your closet by bringing in your old graduation dress to donate to the Princess Shop!

Don’t have a chance to stop by one of their two locations? You can now shop directly in the comfort of your own bed, at any time, any day by visiting http://www.farminista.com. Now until April 15, use the code: SLIPPER to receive 10 percent off your purchase.
